The Catholic School Leadership Academy in partnership with Creighton University is the first step in formation of principal candidates for our Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Academy will serve as a professional learning community that offers relevant seminars and courses for Catholic scholar-practitioners. The opportunity is made available for individual candidates to discern a career in Catholic school administration as well as to introduce newly hired principals to the practices and procedures of the local Catholic school network. Those involved will have the opportunity to build a faith community among learners. Enrollment in the Academy provides dedicated Catholic educators and leaders committed to excellence in education transformational growth and service to the Church.

The program is designed for aspiring administrators to work together over a two year period to experience the Academy locally and three additional online courses provided by Creighton University. Completion of this program will result in a certificate in Catholic school leadership, and participants will be awarded 12 graduate credits. In addition the possibility for a Master’s degree or doctoral degree would be made available through Creighton.

The motivation for this program is to ensure a strong emphasis on mission in the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Catholic School Leadership Academy will include training in a style of leadership rooted in Gospel truths, cultivating excellence, transformational growth and viability for Catholic schools.
