We invite all High School-aged youth from parishes, schools, scouts, sports and other groups to gather as the young church for this signature faith building and evangelizing event - the Catholic Youth Encounter on Sunday, September 30, 2018 to be held at St. Paul High School in Bristol.
Our keynote speaker will be Roy Petitfils who spoke at the 2017 National Catholic Youth Conference and the 2017 Convocation of Catholic Leaders. Roy Petitfils is a licensed counselor at Pax Renewal Center in Lafayette, LA. Roy studied ministry and spirituality at The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas and holds a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from University of Louisiana. Roy has worked with youth and young adults for more than 20 years as minister, a teacher, school administrator, school counselor and now as a counselor in private practice. He specializes in counseling teens and young adults. Roy regularly consults with churches, publishers and organizations helping them more effectively reach and minister to youth and young adults. Roy has published four books, including his most recent What Teens Want You to Know (But Don’t Tell You).
Music at the Encounter will be provided by REVIVE Ministry from the Diocese of Providence. They are a Catholic band made up of youth from various backgrounds. They are well-known around the state of Rhode Island for their praise and worship nights which consists of testimonies, activities, adoration, prayer, food, and of course, music! Their energy will surely keep our youth on their feet the entire day.
We will also offer confessions throughout the day as well as an exhibit area for youth to explore. We will end the day with a closing mass celebrated by Archbishop Leonard Blair.
Please be sure to save Monday evening September 10, 2018, for the chaperone dinner and orientation which will also be held at St. Paul High School in Bristol.
Cost for the Youth Encounter is $30.00 pp with early bird discounts through late June ($25).
