Faith Formation Weekly Update

To All who Minister in Faith Formation

This past year has been an incredibly challenging time in which to minister to the children, youth and families of our parishes. We wish to thank you all for the tireless work you have done to create new and innovative ways to help those you serve to grow in faith and to encounter Jesus amidst the difficulties we have all faced. May your Christmas be filled with joy, peace and hope as we look forward to a new year together.

We wish you times of prayerful peace and moments to “listen in” to the Holy Season! Take time to explore: How today is Jesus preparing your heart to be opened wide to his Way, his Truth, and his Life?

Blessings and Joy, our friends, from the OEEC Faith Formation Team,
Kelly, BJ, Jennifer, Kelsey

Attention Catechetical Leaders

Working on your January playlist of family activities? Here are some topics you could focus on in the month of January:
  • Epiphany
  • Baptism of the Lord (and reflecting upon our own baptism)
  • Call of the Disciples (and how Jesus calls us each day)
  • Racial issues of justice (to coincide with Martin Luther King Day)
The Seasonal Resource Page on the OEEC website (scroll down past Advent and Christmas resources) has many activities you can use for family faith at home.

Attention Youth Ministers

I have enjoyed hearing from you these past few weeks and I look forward to connecting with more youth ministers in the future. I have planned two virtual meetings in January, a morning and an evening time slot. This will give us the chance to continue to get to know one another and to do some envisioning for 2021 as we look forward to a new year of ministering to the youth of our parishes.

Meeting times:
  • January 14, 10:00 a.m.
  • January 19, 7:00 p.m.
This link (https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/821818677) will work for either meeting. Please attend whichever gathering is more convenient for you.  You can also dial in using your phone by dialing: 1 (786) 535-3211, please use access code: 821-818-677.

Attention Confirmation Coordinators:

Kevin Dowd just released a new book called Your Confirmation Bible Companion: What Scripture as ‘God’s Love Song’ Means for You. This book is geared towards Confirmation students and teens and is a user-friendly guide to understanding how Catholics read and interpret the Bible. The book includes questions for reflection and space for journaling.
