Quote

“Hold your eyes on God and leave the doing to Him.  That is all the doing you have to worry about.”

~Saint Jane Frances de Chantal

Question

What ‘doing’ do you need to release into the hands of God? Are there things you are trying to do that are really the work of the Holy Spirit?

Prayer

God of love and mercy, it is hard to surrender the ‘doing’ of my life to you. It is easier at times to try and ‘do’ everything by my own strength, my own power and my own will. Please remind my heart that I should indeed leave the ‘doing’ to you, who has the power and wisdom to understand not only what needs to be done, but how it should be done. Let me see that the ‘doing’ is your work and the ‘surrendering’ is my work. Then guide me on this journey to see your will manifest in my life. Amen.

Faith Formation Weekly Update

Upcoming virtual meeting: Learn from Each Other: Digital Strategies

Throughout the Archdiocese of Hartford, many parish faith formation leaders have designed innovative websites or web pages to help children, youth and families grow in faith. Not only was this extremely helpful during this time of COVID, but it is an essential tool when ministering to today’s parents and children.

Come and be inspired by taking a little ‘tour’ of these websites at this virtual gathering.
Date: April 20, 2021
Time 10:00 a.m.*
To register click here.
*this workshop will be recorded for those who cannot attend

Digital Challenge

The pandemic has given those who work in ministry opportunities to connect to those we serve in new ways. Now that we are one year into this new way of ministering, review your growth with the Digital Challenge. Are there still ways you can utilize these strategies to reach the youth and families you serve?

This year, the Children’s Spirituality Summit and the Intergenerate Conference are joining forces for a combined virtual experience to include 4 keynote speakers, 30 workshops and 18 paper presentations of new thinking and research in children’s spirituality and intergenerational ministry. This conference will also include “Taste and See Experiences” of practical activities and “Kindred Group Discussions” for sharing insights and applying current ideas and approaches to ministry.

Being Human Means Being Vision Impaired

Jesus speaks God’s Word: “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you are saying, ‘We see,’ so your sin remains.” (John 9:41)

CBS 200 students study and pray with the Gospel of John during these weeks of Lent. Here, we see some Pharisees stuck in sin because they don’t recognize their human limitations. They think they see all there is to see about God and God’s ways, so they cannot listen to the truth Jesus brings.

Aren’t we all blind, simply by being human? God gifts us to see a part of God’s plan to bring all of creation to fullness. Only God sees the whole. When we, like the Pharisees, convince ourselves that we see the whole picture, then we shut our eyes and are stuck in our sin. Why listen to anyone (even Jesus), if we know it all? Faith requires that we know that we do not see fully, so that we may place our lives in God’s hands.
