”Pain and suffering have come into your life, but remember pain, sorrow, suffering are but the kiss of Jesus — a sign that you have come so close to Him that He can kiss you.”
Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Question: How can we help those we know, serve and love to experience any pain and suffering as a kiss from Jesus?

To our God who heals,
Hold us in your hands and allow us to feel the tenderness and comfort that we cry for during times of challenge and times of suffering. As the days of this pandemic seem to continue to loom, please be the hope we need to see the light each day.
Amen.

Attention Youth Ministers and Confirmation Coordinators

Tom East, Director of Center for Ministry Development and national consultant on youth ministry, has written an excellent article entitled, “Radiate Christ: Becoming a Parish Who Accompanies Young People.” This article provides a beautiful vision on the importance of empowering faith companions of teenagers, encouraging the faith growth of our youth and overall transforming our ministries. I highly encourage you to take some time to read this beautiful article!

Lenten Resources

As you begin to think about helping families prepare for this very special time in the liturgical year, and with much of our faith formation still happening virtually and at-home, please check out the Seasonal Resources Page for many Lenten resources.

New items added to the Seasonal Resource Page this week:
  • Click here for some great ideas of items to include in Lenten kits for your parish families. This is a wonderful way to involve all generations and help families experience this sacred and beautiful liturgical season.
  • Lenten Story Time: Consider using the Lenten season to host a weekly virtual story time. These books lend themselves perfectly to conversations on the truths of our faith and how we are to live as disciples of Jesus. There is opportunity through these stories to lift up the Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

CBS Holy Land Pilgrimage 2022

Good news! The Silver Anniversary Spiritual Pilgrimage with Archbishop Blair and Bishop Betancourt has been confirmed for January 6-17, 2022. Cost per person is $3999, which includes airfare, all international travel, accommodations and most meals. Walk in the paths Jesus trod, as we pray together and share Christian fellowship at biblical sites, including 4 ½ days in Jerusalem, a boat tour of the Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Bethlehem, Jacob’s Well, Elijah’s Cave, and so much more!

Note from Archbishop Blair and Bishop Betancourt: “A pilgrimage to the Holy Land is more than simply a tour of an exotic, historic site. We, as your spiritual guides, are planning something truly special, including prayer and reflection experiences in addition to daily Mass.”

Now is the time for all of us to speak words of love and hope to one another in faith, as CBS 200 students hear from the Apostle Paul this week:

“I am longing to see you . . . so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.”
Romans 1, NRSV.
