As We Say Goodbye to Summer......

end of summer.jpgAs summer begins to wind down and back-to-school sales pop up in every store, our thoughts turn to the new school and pastoral year. Excited children will fill our Catholic school and faith-formation classrooms, and enthusiastic adults yearning for a deeper understanding of our faith will begin at the Catholic Biblical School. We pray for all these students whose lives will be enriched by an education in faith, and for their dedicated teachers and catechists who live out the important mission of sharing that faith.

V-EncuentoLogo-bilingual.jpgWe also ask you to please remember in your prayers the delegates to the Fifth National Encuentro of Hispanic/Latino Ministry (V Encuentro), a historic ecclesial gathering of 3,000 Hispanic/Latino Ministry leaders/delegates from dioceses, ecclesial movements, schools, universities and Catholic organizations from across the country in Grapevine, Texas, September 20 - 23. The V Encuentro is a four-year process of evangelization, mission and consultation under the theme Missionary Disciples: Witnesses of God’s Love inspired by Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel). For more details regarding this important gathering, visit the V Encuentro website.

hopes-poster.jpgLast month in the Logo Fun section, we highlighted the HOPES logo, and the blog this month provides more information about this initiative that works to keep Catholic schools vibrant. The HOPES (Help Our Parish Elementary Schools) Collection funds grants to our elementary schools in support of new strategies and successful initiatives in marketing, advancement, technology and security. Sincere gratitude goes out to all those parishioners in the Archdiocese of Hartford who participate in this vital collection.

The coming months are bringing many terrific events sponsored by OEEC, so be sure to check out our upcoming events page, note the dates, and plan to join us! In the meantime, enjoy the waning weeks of summer in anticipation of a new school and pastoral year.
