Peace.jpgThe joyful chaos of the Christmas season comes to a close this month after the celebrations of the Epiphany and the Baptism of the Lord. However, in many Spanish-speaking countries, the Christmas season extends even further to Día de la Candelaria. Learn more about this Christ-centered celebration in our blog!

As we conclude the Christmas season and enter into a new year, we know how deeply we desire peace in 2019 in every facet of our lives: peace in every home and family; peace in every town, state, and nation; peace in every corner of our broken world and hearts. As Christians, we know that peace comes through knowing the Lord and entering into relationship with Christ through prayer and discipleship. In Saint Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he exhorts his listeners that by putting aside our anxieties and offering prayers and thanksgiving to God, “the peace of God which surpasses all understanding” will abide with them. We thank you for being the bearers of that peace to those we serve in the parishes and schools of the Archdiocese of Hartford, and pray that “the peace of God which surpasses all understanding” will sustain you in this new year!

New Year Resolutions

In Roman Mythology the pagan Janus is the figure of transition and beginnings. He is pictured with two faces looking backward and forward. And so, in January it has become the custom that we look back to assess the previous year and make self-improvement resolutions for the year ahead.

What’s in Your New Year’s Resolutions?
