July 2018.jpg

Summertime has officially begun, and we hope it is a time of rest, recharging, and renewal for all who serve the parishes and schools of the Archdiocese.

We also hope it is a time of enjoyment – did you have fun guessing the OEEC logo last month? If you guessed that it was the Archdiocesan Women’s Conference, you were correct! More information about the 2018 Conference can be found in this month’s blog. As we look toward a new school year (it’ll be here before we know it!) our blogs also feature a take on the recent article about Why Parents Choose Catholic Schools in The Wall Street Journal.

As you travel through the newsletter, be sure to check out the Mark Your Calendars section for important dates, as well as the Around the Archdiocese section of our website.

Please Note: As a point of clarification, please use the name Pastoral Center when referring to Saint Thomas Seminary as a building. Although the charter and accreditation remain in force, the building itself will be referred to as the Pastoral Center moving forward as the building houses other Archdiocesan offices and ministries. Please note that the name Pastoral Center takes the place of the previous name, Archdiocesan Center at Saint Thomas Seminary.

Archdiocesan Recognition

It is the practice of the OEEC to celebrate all those who labor in the vineyard of the Archdiocese of Hartford: those committed to the mission of Catholic school education, as well as those who have dedicated their energies to the study of Scripture, preparation for ministry, years of service in faith formation, faith-based scout programs, and personal development and growth.

On May 18, 2018 several Catholic school administrators who have devoted themselves to the ministry of Catholic school education were honored for their years of service, and others were acknowledged as they retire, transition to new endeavors, or complete the recognition year as the Archdiocesan Distinguished Administrator.

In addition, on June 19, 2018 many dedicated youth, students, scouts, volunteers, and ministers were honored at the Archdiocesan Awards Ceremony, held at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph. Archbishop Leonard P. Blair bestowed honors on 270 members of the Archdiocesan family of faith, in celebration of their commitment to formation, catechesis, and the greater vitality of parish life.

Logo Fun!

June 2018 marked the second anniversary of the creation of the Office of Education, Evangelization and Catechesis (OEEC); to celebrate, we would like to highlight some of the great initiatives and programming for which our office is responsible.

In the spirit of summer fun, we thought we would make it a guessing game! Each month, our newsletter will feature one logo. Can you guess the OEEC program/initiative with which the logo is affiliated? Enter your answer here.
