Mercy is the Face of Jesus

In the CHURCH of MERCY Pope Francis joyfully proclaims that Mercy is “encountering the face of Jesus.” He goes on to tell us what mercy is and is not; it is generosity of heart, forgiveness, understanding, sympathy, empathy, selflessness, and kindness; it is not punitive, grudge holding, score settling, carte blanche forgiveness, sanction, endorsement, or approval. Pope Francis underscores that God loves us unconditionally and wants us to ask Him for forgiveness when we stray. “Treat even your enemies with a kind heart…” as He created all and we are all His children. For certain God is always with us – it is we who turn away from Him and never He who turns from us. God is patient and waits for us.  We will come to know him best in the Gospel.

Each day let us pray Pray for Mercy to be merciful.
