Have you been part of the V Encuentro? If your answer is NO, you are missing out on the most important moments of the Hispanic Catholics in the U.S. happening right now. The Encuentro is a grassroots process currently taking place in parishes, schools, universities, and other Catholic organizations across the country.
With the theme Missionary Disciples: Witness of God’s Love - Discípulos Misioneros: Testigos del Amor de Dios the Bishops of the United States called on all Catholic leaders to listen to the needs, challenges and aspirations that the growing Hispanic/Latino population faces in daily life. This is not an event, but a process of discernment to prepare the Catholic Church in the U.S. to better recognize, embrace, and promote the many gifts and talents that the Hispanic community shares in the life and mission of the Church, and in the society. The video, “What we have seen and heard through the process of the V Encuentro” , is from the November 2017 Bishops’ Report and gives a glimpse of what has been accomplished. Participants and church leaders are excited and hopeful about what the V Encuentro will bring to the Catholic Church in the U.S.
The young, and young adults are key participants in the V Encuentro and they have brought their energy, music and many talents to serve others. You can see them and hear their joy as they sing Nuestra Alegría/Our Joy theme:
The parishioners in the Hispanic communities in the Archdiocese of Hartford have actively taken part in the V Encuentro. We are forming missionary disciples who reach out to others and accompany them in their daily life and faith. We are listening to the voices of the youth and young adults. We are opening leadership spaces for them to actively participate in the present and future of the Church.
We celebrated the Archdiocesan Encuentro on September 16, 2017 and on May 12, 2018, the Archdiocese of Hartford will welcome the V Encuentro delegates from the Dioceses of Bridgeport, Norwich and Springfield, to celebrate the Regional Encuentro of the Region I South at the Archdiocesan Center, Bloomfield. The Region I North celebrated theirs on March 10, at La Salette in Attleboro, MA. This process will lead us to the National V Encuentro on September 20-23, 2018 in Grapevine, TX.
Please take part in the V Encuentro by getting informed, participating and praying for its success.
