Holy Cross High School (HCHS) is a Catholic secondary school founded in Waterbury, CT in 1968 by the Congregation of Holy Cross. At 37 acres, it is the largest Catholic secondary school in CT. HCHS has a total enrollment of approximately 500 students. Originally an all-boys institution, it became co-educational in 1975 when it merged with the all-girls school, Waterbury Catholic High School. The school is sponsored by the Brothers of Holy Cross, Moreau Province, in association with the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame and dedicated laymen and women. The Mission of HCHS is to assist in the total Christian education of young men and women. In cooperation with parents, HCHS fosters integration of the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth of each individual. This is the fully realized vision of Blessed Basil Moreau who believed students should be well-prepared to make choices in life that are inspired by faith and informed by reason. In keeping with Christ’s tradition of having a diverse set of friends and peers, HCHS welcomes all. We believe “your uniqueness is your strength at our school. Here, you can be different where it counts.”
